Re-Coating Of Neptune Terminals Potash Ship Loaders

KPC Coatings Group was contracted through August to develop and implement a maintenance re-coating system for Neptune Terminals Potash Ship Loaders. Working with International Paints distributor, Camcoat, KPC developed a comprehensive time and materials program to provide added corrosion protection to the two potash ship loaders of Neptune located in North Vancouver BC.

A crew of 12 men power washed the structural steel as per SSPC-SP12-WJ4, further degreased as per SSPC-SP1 standards, mechanically tool removed built up scale rust and visible corrosion as per SSPC-SP3, then striped, primed and top coated the required areas.

The project was executed over a ten day shut down of potash operations and is expected to extend re-coating life of these areas out another 3-5 years.

Effective execution of this work resulted in Neptune requesting a similar effort be employed on their west end coal loader following conclusion of the potash corrosion protection works.
