South Fork Dam Intake Pipe
Nanaimo City Council contracted KPC Coatings Group to act as general contractor for the corrosion protection upgrade on the intake and tunnel pipe at South Fork Dam. As this was the primary fresh water supply for the city all work was accomplished with full containment ensuring that no particulate resulting from surface preparation to finish coating works entered the water supply.
KPC had to control and contain natural ground water seepage while preparing the existing cold tar coating ensuring removal of all existing coating failures then recoating with Devoe epoxy.
Oldman Dam Fresh Water Reservoir
The Alberta government department of Parks and Protected Areas contracted KPC Coatings Group to refurbish the fresh water reservoir tank at the Oldman Dam out side of Pincher Creek Alberta. The original spray on foam insulation and protective UV urethane coating has deteriorated to the point that a contractor was required to effectively evaluate, repair and rebuild the spray on insulating foam and re-apply a protective urethane top coat.
The greatest risk on this project was the wind which significantly effects the foam application and during the fall Crowsnest Pass has an almost constant wind.
1957 GM Diesel Locomotive
International Reload Systems (IRS) of Christina Lake, BC contracted KPC Coatings to recondition their 1957 EMD GP9 V16 GM Diesel locomotive located in Fruitvale, BC. The locomotive is used today in transporting pressed board for Atco lumber and for sightseeing and private functions in the Kootenays.
IRS was seeking a qualified contractor to recondition the locomotive for aesthetic and corrosion prevention reasons.
Ferus Gas Industries Nitrogen Tank
American Tank and Vessel of Houston Texas contracted KPC to complete the coating work on the Nitrogen Tank installed at the Ferus Gas Industries, gas plant, located in Strathmore, Alberta.
The project consisted of priming all weld seams, applying a mid coat over 100% of the tank and a finish coating with urethane.
Neptune Terminals East Coal Ship Loader
KPC was contracted to re-coat Neptune Terminals East Coal Ship Loader in North Vancouver, BC. This was a lead abatement, 100% containment, surface preparation and recoat contract.
A portion of the work was suspended over fisheries waters and with the lead hazard, demanded comprehensive safe work and environmental management programs.
